In the vastness of space and the immensity of time,
it is our joy to share a planet and an epoch*

Max roared into his new life on this strange new world on
August 27, 2022, in the Year of the Tiger.
Max's middle name [Ming-De/明德] was chosen by his maternal Grandmother from the Book of Great Learning, which is the first book in a series of ancient Chinese texts setting forth the core values of Confucianism, known as the Four Books. The two characters of his middle name are from this passage, translated below:
The second character [De/德] also honors Max's German heritage, as this is the same character used in the Chinese name for Germany [德國]*. The first character [Ming/明] can also be translated from Chinese as "understanding", and in his Vater's native Kölsch dialect, means "my", giving his middle name another meaning of "understanding my Germany."
